I am a historian of war and strategy. I hold a PhD in War Studies from King’s College London, and my thesis was on the British Third Army during the Battle of Arras in 1917.
My academic research interests include the history of modern warfare (especially 20th and 21st century warfare) and strategic theory and practice. I have taught at university and at staff college. I am also a former defence policy adviser to the Conservative Party and a policy and public affairs consultant.
